Why Intrapreneurship?
Intrapreneurship is a concept whereby corporate organizations behave entrepreneurially to become more competitive, productive and profitable in the market place. The concept originated when corporate organizations started questioning the zest and enthusiasm with which entrepreneurs ran their businesses. They were awed by the success of ‘small time’ entrepreneurs and started questioning why their own corporate employees could not behave like the entrepreneurs ‘out there.’ They were wondering what was it that made entrepreneurs so motivated, so bold in taking risks, so creative in their products and services and so alert in identifying new opportunities. They wanted their corporate employees to behave like the entrepreneurs out there. Hence intrapreneurship was born.
How Does Intrapreneurship Add Value To An Organization?
Intrapreneurship looks at transforming existing corporate organizations to become more COST-EFFECTIVE, PRODUCTIVE and PROFITABLE. It is aimed at making corporate organizations more competitive in the market place. It looks at SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS SUCCESS through the creation of something ‘new,’ be it, a new product or a new service, let alone anew operational system. It looks at the creation of entrepreneurs within corporate organizations, that is, socializing corporate employees to think and act like entrepreneurs within the corporate organization. These individuals, also known as intrapreneurs, take responsibility and ownership for specific projects, tasks and responsibilities that is assigned to them. Most organizations give intrapreneurs an equity in the project or business unit.
Corporate Organizations That Practice Intrapreneurship:
The Managers of Decentralized Units of Corporate Organizations or Strategic Business Units (SBUs) can be likened to Intrapreneurs. They are responsible for the productivity and profitability of their business unit and take ‘ownership’ for the success or failure of the business unit. This concept has worked very well in the more developed economies who always strive to find ‘new’ ways to grow their businesses. Research has shown that the very successful Fortune 500 Companies such as 3M, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Motorola and Citicorp have successfully used Intrapreneurhsip to transform existing mature business units, to provide challenges to managers and to just ‘survive’ in the global market.
This 2-Day Workshop introduces the concept of intrapreneurship to corporate organizations. The primary aim will be to highlight how intrapreneurship can steer the organization to BUSINESS SUCCESS and PROFITABILITY. A highly interactive and activity-oriented workshop that will most definitely spur employees into wanting to take an innovative quantum leap for their organizations.
How Is This Workshop Different From Others?
The methodology in delivering this program is critical as the target audience have been in many other programs of similar nature and are looking for something different and unique which is interesting and inspiring to learn. For all purposes they are bored of classroom learning as they probably feel sleepy and lethargic after a short span of time.
To overcome this problem this seminar cum workshop will be modified to have more activity-based self-awareness learning and less ‘I Talk, You Listen and Learn’. This will be in the proportion of 80% activity based learning and only 20% lecture based learning.
To achieve the learning objectives, special care and extra time is needed to ensure that lessons are effectively learnt and then being able to be practiced by the participants. ‘The 4Ps of Accelerated Learning’ will be applied to ensure quick grasp of the fundamental principles and ensure high levels of fun learning. The session will be presented as a seminar cum workshop interposed with multiple activities to ensure high momentum.
In totality, the Program will be presented as a lively, fun and exciting session such that the participants will pass positive and encouraging words of commendation to their colleagues who will attend after them.
